Today's music artists do not have much to say and have been “dumbed down”, according to Grammy award winning producer, David Morales. On Sept. 25, Morales visited Clark Atlanta University to give advice to students interested in the field of music. The Brooklyn native stated, “You need bank, you need to learn how to play an instrument (especially the piano), one is to understand music, and social media plays a big part in exposing yourself.” There are natural poets who can put things together, according to Morales. “What story are you telling when you make a song?” Morales questioned. "I do not like DJ Khaled at all," Morales says as he discusses the exposure of being a DJ and producer while maintaining social media presence. Morales discussed his issues with "rising DJs" like Paris Hilton receiving higher pay than veteran producers and DJs like himself. "Being a DJ is about how you select your music," Morales says. "You don't even need a record label anymore. Everything is about phones and visuals," Morales entailed. Morales stated on his website's bio page, "The entire concept of DJing has changed so much over the years. Back in the day, the DJ was not the focal point; the DJ was someone off to the side or in a corner and people just danced throughout the night." Morales,a self-proclaimed introvert also emphasized that his goal was to create a place for people to forget their troubles for awhile. He also iterated how important that was to people living in today's world. Credit: Sky News
